Housed in the original passenger terminal of Bristol Temple Meads railway station, which was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, visitors can discover how the British Empire influenced the World with a tour of the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum.
Bristol's industrial past is charted in this series of exhibitions which includes aeroplane engines, printing mechanics and a working steam railway. Elements of Bristol's social history is also explored, in particular the controversial slave trade in the city.
Artworks, artefacts, and geological items comprise some of the displays in this grand building. The collection includes art from the masters as well as contemporary artists. Egyptian, Oriental, and natural history exhibits can also be found on the premises.
This 18th century house was celebrated in Jane Austin's novel 'Northanger Abbey' as being one of the finest places in England. On display are items from common life of long ago, such as toys and costumes. A lovely picture gallery is also on the premises and Blaise Castle is also a popular wedding venue.
